BLOOD DONORS

Thank You To Our Donors

Solomon Park has been privileged to have had well over 10,000 blood donations over the past 20 years. Without the generous donation of blood by our many donors, none of the various projects that we have been involved in with the many state and national government and industrial agencies would have been possible. Many of these projects have contributed to the general health of not only citizens of the US but to people all over the world. For your generous donation not only of blood but also of time, effort and patience we would like to thank you all.

Donors Needed

Payment for a unit of blood is $50.00. Solomon Park needs blood donors. We are particularly interested in donors who have elevated cholesterol, HDL cholesterol, LDL cholesterol or triglycerides. If you have any of these conditions please contact us at 425-650-2000 or 800-769-7774. You may also contact us for a free cholesterol test at the above numbers.

How It Works

You will receive $50.00 for each unit of blood you donate at Solomon Park. All blood donations are by appointment only. If you are interested in being a donor, please call us at 425-650-2000 or 800-769-7774 and make an appointment to give. First time donors will, with rare exceptions, be asked to donate a small tube (around 10 mL) of blood. We test this sample for cholesterol and triglycerides and occasionally other analytes and screen for viruses such as HIV 1 and 2 and hepatitis B and C and syphilis You will be paid $25.00 for this donation and we will send you your cholesterol and triglyceride results. All blood donated at Solomon Park will be used for testing purposes. No blood or blood products from donations at Solomon Park are ever used in transfusions.

Once we know your lipid levels and determine that there is no evidence of the above viruses in your blood system and that you are a viable blood donor in that you have adequate veins and that you are not bothered by the blood draw process, we will categorize you according to your lipid levels and add you to our donor list.

If you show any evidence of the above viruses, we will call you and recommend that you see your doctor. Our testing is a screen for these viruses so you cannot be diagnosed with our results either positively or negatively; however, we feel it is important that you have this information so you can bring it to the attention of your physician. If it were the case that you were infected with one of these viruses, there are a number of treatments that are available to you that your doctor can prescribe for you. If you do not receive a phone call from us concerning viral testing it is safe to assume that there is no evidence for these agents in your blood sample by our screening test.

Once you are on our blood donor list, you will be called from time to time and asked if you would like to donate. You may refuse this request and you may also ask at any time that you be removed from our donor list. If you choose to donate blood for a regular blood donation, you will be given a time and date for the blood draw. We will draw one unit of blood at that time which is approximately one pint of blood and you will be paid $50.00 for this donation. You will also receive, with rare exceptions, your lipid results for every donation you make.

It is important that you make every effort to be on time for your blood donation. If you are late, you may have to wait longer as other donors on time will have to be drawn at their scheduled time. If for any reason you cannot give on the day of your appointment, please call as soon as possible. If you keep your appointment and we are for any reason unable to draw your blood, you will still be paid as if you had given a full unit. If during your blood draw you wish to have us discontinue drawing blood, you will be paid as if you had given a full unit. If we draw enough blood from you at your scheduled draw time, we will also send you your cholesterol results. You may wish to try at a later time after an unsuccessful blood draw; however, we cannot pay you if we are still unable to draw a unit of blood the second time.
