ULTRA-LOW FREEZER STORAGE:

Solomon Park maintains a dedicated area for the storage of –80^oc ultra-low temperature freezers. The laboratory can either provide the freezer for storage of outside samples, can make arrangements to store freezers owned by outside laboratories. Pricing depends of ownership of the freezer units.

Freezer Inventory Control:

Personnel at Solomon Park can enter samples into or retrieve samples from inventory and receive and ship samples to outside laboratories. Samples can be divided into smaller aliquots and entered into inventory. Programming can be arranged to monitor inventory control.

FREEZER FACILITY:

The freezer facility at Solomon Park is a stand-alone facility, which is kept scrupulously clean. The environment is controlled by a dedicated air conditioning system and ambient temperature is held at 72 degrees Fahrenheit. Adequate ventilation is provided for each freezer.

FREEZER ALARMS:

Two levels of alarm are installed:

Alarm Level I:
All freezers are alarmed by an audible alarm, which will sound if temperatures fluctuate beyond tolerances

Alarm Level II:
All freezers are alarmed by a Sensiphone system which will call for support on a 24 hour per day 7 day a week basis if temperatures fluctuate beyond tolerances.

FREEZER BACKUP:

Each Freezer is wired to a dedicated circuit. A gas fed 100 kW generator system, which will automatically activate during any prolonged interruption to the power supply, additionally backs up the entire freezer system.

In addition to the generator backup system, Solomon Park has a detailed emergency plan to obtain dry ice to hold samples in case of a simultaneous power and natural gas interruption.

FREEZER PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE:

All freezers are checked and cleaned on a bi-annual basis by an outside refrigeration service. This service includes confirmatory temperature measurements against electronic display temperatures using an NIST calibrated thermocouple.
