Solomon Park Research Laboratories has years of experience providing harmonized or standardized laboratory control samples to the biotechnology industry.

We have such confidence in our work that we have developed a trademarked service known as the SPRL-RefKits ™ service.

What is the SPRL-RefKits™ Service?

Solomon Park provides commutable reference materials to biomedical laboratories across the world to help them calibrate their clinical sample testing instruments to ensure a maximum tolerance of 0.5%. Consequently, when laboratories test human clinical blood samples, the results are 100% accurate, providing the best possible test results to help medical professionals diagnose and treat patients correctly.

Solomon Park’s aim is to improve human health by supplying standardized laboratory control samples to global labs to ensure that their instruments are perfectly calibrated.

Because our samples are commutable, laboratories only need one set of SPRL-RefKits™ to use as a control for every instrument in the lab, irrespective of the make or brand.

Human Serum: The Standardizing and Harmonizing Ingredient

The raison d’etre for harmonization is the requirement to achieve uniform or comparable results among different measurement procedures for the same laboratory test. There is no calibration required in the principle of harmonization.

Standardization, on the other hand, translates into the achievement of comparable results by using a calibration mechanism traceable to a reference measurement procedure.

Solomon Park’s reference materials are manufactured from human serum samples drawn from our vast donor database of healthy donors. Because we use human serum to manufacture our calibration and control materials, the instrument will be calibrated 100% because of the nature of the control material in relation to the clinical samples used.

Both the calibration and control reference materials are based on pooled human serum that has been extracted from whole blood samples. And, because this is the same basic material as the clinical samples that must be tested, the control and calibration process across all laboratory instruments will be uniform and accurate.

SPRL-RefKits™: Custom Control Samples

Solomon Park also creates pooled human serum laboratory control and calibration reference materials via our SPRL-RefKits™ service. However, we also develop custom controls from human serum based on your research study’s or laboratory’s requirements. These custom controls are used for many different purposes, including the testing of new bioassays or immunoassays.

The primary difference between an immunoassay and a bioassay is that a bioassay is the analysis of a substance’s biological activity, with reference to a standard preparation. And an immunoassay is a test for the presence of an element using the reaction of an antibody to its antigen.
