Biological Products for ResearchAt Solomon Park Research Laboratories, we provide many different human biological products to meet your unique research requirements. We routinely collect and process blood products such as whole blood, human serum, human plasma, human urine, PBMC, and recently SARS-CoV-2 blood samples from donors either infected or recovering from this pandemic.
We offer a range of standard products that are listed below. All products listed below are of human origin.
Solomon Park’s human blood and biological products are collected from apparently healthy donors. Before accepting blood donations, all our blood and blood derivative donors are tested for HBsAg, HIV, HCV, and if requested syphilis. Donors that present with known afflictions must be deemed healthy enough to donate by AABB accepted criteria.
Whole blood is drawn from the donor and source plasma is collected after centrifugation before any clotting occurs. To separate plasma, serum or other products the units or screens of whole blood can be further processed as described below or can be maintained as plasma using anticoagulants if requested by the client.
Serum is prepared by allowing the plasma described above to clot at body temperature or if requested by adding clotting agents to the source plasma. The serum is then separated from the clots by centrifugation.

Disease State Plasma and Sera
Solomon Park Research Laboratories is a leading provider of human diseased blood, plasma, serum, and peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs). Through our Solomon Park donor center, we provide access to specific donor materials, as well as the delivery of fresh or frozen products to researchers, requiring normal as well as diseased and rare blood samples.
All of our diseased blood collections follow a standardized collection procedure to ensure that there is consistency between donors; thereby, eliminating variability and instability in the samples collected. Additionally, depending on the health of the donor, they may be eligible to donate full units of blood every 8 weeks (56 days). This process has value in that it may be used by researchers to study the disease progression within a single donor (depending on the eligibility of the donor to continue giving samples).
