If we don't have it, we will find it!

At Solomon Park, we are proud of the fact that our extensive donor database allows us to source the right donors to meet your human blood plasma requirements, whether for healthy or diseased blood plasma. And should we not have a donor for your plasma needs on our database, we will source a suitable donor to ensure that your research study is a success.

Why use Human Plasma Samples?

Human plasma samples (in vitro) play a critical role in clinical research, including studies designed to improve efficiency in patient care. One such investigation evaluated whether delays in blood sample processing during kidney dialysis treatment could be reduced. Traditionally, laboratory technicians must wait for a collected blood specimen to clot before serum can be separated and analyzed — a step that can extend turnaround times.

The following example study examined whether processing time could be shortened using one of two alternative approaches:

  • Separating serum from the whole blood sample after clot formation.
  • Extracting plasma directly from whole blood and incorporating specialized separator gels to expedite processing.

Findings from the study demonstrated that in vitro human plasma samples yielded improved testing performance in the management of patients with End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD).

To complete the research, both plasma and serum samples were collected from qualified donors. Specimens from healthy donors were used as control materials to establish reference values, while plasma and serum samples from affected individuals were analyzed to address the study’s primary objective.

This research underscores the value of properly prepared in vitro plasma samples in enhancing diagnostic accuracy and operational efficiency in dialysis care settings.

This research study is just one of the many studies that have been successful because of the donation of human plasma samples to Solomon Park Research Laboratories: helping us help scientists improve human health by asking and answering the questions that matter. Should you wish to donate blood to contribute towards research studies such as these, contact our donor center for advice on how to become part of our donor program.

Note: Our human plasma products are intended only for in vitro use and for manufacturing and research projects. They are not suitable for human or animal use. While we make every effort to ensure our products’ safety, we advise handling any biological materials with standard precautions as if capable of spreading infectious disease.
